S.W. Jack Drilling to Liquidate Equipment

INDIANA, Penn. (May 7, 2010) – On May 1, 2010, Christine J. Toretti, Chairman and CEO of S.W. Jack Drilling Company announced the company would be liquidating its operating assets and will be investing the proceeds in endeavors within the energy industry and other innovative realms.

“S.W. Jack Drilling has been providing excellent service to all our customers for 92 years,” said Toretti. “We celebrate our ability to exist as a family-owned energy company for close to a century.  That was only possible because of our amazing workforce and our strategic partners.  I have been blessed to work side by side with James H. McElwain as my partner for over thirty years.  Under a changing oil and gas landscape, and the financial burden of high tech investment demands, we believe that we can make a bigger impact by turning our focus in other directions.”

Toretti will continue with basic oversight and management of the company, but will increase her focus on Republican politics. Toretti currently serves as National Committeewoman of Pennsylvania to the Republican National Committee and has been heavily involved with the Republican Party for many years.

“As an employer, a mother and a citizen of our great nation, I am called to take a more active role in the public sector,” said Toretti. “America needs stronger leaders and is crying out against wasteful spending, poor policy and the ever looming creep of socialism in our government. I’m looking to jump in and lend my support to what Americans truly want. We’ll see where that road takes me as it continues to unfold.”

A force within her industry, Toretti was placed on the National Petroleum Council and the U.S. Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board. Governor Tom Ridge so respected her leadership that fifteen years ago, he appointed her to Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education and subsequently adopted a plan she crafted to fund investments in higher education in new and innovative ways.  Governor Mark Schweiker appointed her as his representative on the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.  In 2007, she was elected Chair of the Committee of 200, an organization of the most influential female business leaders in the world.
